Cycling talent search at Amgen Tour of California

Feb. 21, 2007 -- Press Release: USA Cycling and RacerMate, Inc., have partnered to help identify the nation’s young athletes with the potential to join USA Cycling’s top tier and hopefully become a future World Champion.

There are a limited number of 20 minute time slots available in the RacerMate booth at the Amgen Tour of California Lifestyle Festival. Also, RacerMate is giving cyclists the chance to ride a simulated version of the Amgen Tour of California course. SEATTLE, WA. (Feb. 21, 2007) – Soon anyone will be able to ride the scenic and challenging 2007 Amgen Tour of California bike race courses, without ever leaving the comfort of their homes.

RacerMate, Inc., the manufacturer of the first indoor bicycle wind trainer, and the highly successful CompuTrainer and Velotron, is developing a 3D Real Course Video/DVD software program that will profile each of the eight race stages being ridden during this year's Amgen Tour of California.

RacerMate will start each race day a few minutes ahead of the world-class bike racers, with a video camera mounted on the front of the van and GPS data gathering equipment that will record the actual course profile, including changes in elevation.

RacerMate will then synchronize each day's GPS data and video, starting with the 1.9 mile Prologue at Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, and concluding with the 77.5 mile Circuit Race in Long Beach at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, into a video/DVD that is playable on RacerMate's celebrated CompuTrainer setup.

This setup is available for demonstrations in the Lifestyle Festival of the Amgen Tour of California .
The Real Course Video program will enable cyclists to enjoy an accurate virtual cycling experience while training with a CompuTrainer in the comfort of their homes. Another exciting feature of this state of the art program is that the speed of the video playback will be determined by each cyclist's individual riding speed.

The "Real Course Video" will give every consumer the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding the same prestigious 2007 Amgen Tour of California courses the professional cyclists, including CompuTrainer-sponsored Freddie Rodriguez, will ride.
