Jamis gives away 188 bikes on national TV
Feb. 28, 2007 --
Press Release: Today Jamis Bicycles and ABC television's "The View" ran a promotion to give away a Jamis Citizen Street Comfort bike to each member of the studio audience.
(From "The View" website) - "The View," recipient of the 2003 Daytime Emmy® Award for "Outstanding Talk Show," is ABC Daytime's morning chatfest, featuring a team of dynamic women of different ages, experiences and backgrounds discussing the most exciting events of the day. "The View" is produced by and features ABC News correspondent Barbara Walters -- who appears on average three days a week - entertainer Rosie O'Donnell, comedian Joy Behar and former "Survivor: The Australian Outback" participant Elisabeth Hasselbeck. "The View" consists of hot topics in the news, the best experts in their field, celebrity interviews and general entertainment. The program celebrated its 2000th show on February 2, 2006, and is now in its tenth season on the ABC Television Network.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck took a spin on the Jamis Citizen on-stage as Rosie talked about the bike, Jamis as a family-owned company and the comfort of the Citizen model.
"We were proud to be part of this promotion," said Carine Joannou, president of Jamis Bicycles, "it's a fantastic way to help promote the healthy lifestyle of cycling to an audience that may not have considered cycling as an option to the treadmill. It also gives us the ability to showcase, to a broad audience, the comfort that today's bicycles can offer the casual cyclist."
The Jamis Citizen was the obvious choice as the perfect all-around, get-back-into-shape comfort bike. Every piece of the Citizen has been chosen to guarantee carefree comfort and confidence ride after ride. It blends the comfort and control of mountain bike suspension with the smooth, high-speed performance of large-diameter road-bike wheels and tires. Think of it as an SUV without the parking problems and hefty fuel penalty. Each model offers a propped-up, see-over-traffic ride position, thanks to the long-quilled, adjustable-angle stems and hi-rise handebars. The triple-chainring cranksets feature an integrated pant-guard to make them as friendly for riding in street clothes as the local subway, while the 21 and 24-speed Shimano drivetrains shift precisely and effortlessly, providing just the right gear for putting along bike paths or making quick time on the lunchtime snack run. Every Citizen proves there's nothing pedestrian about a Jamis city bike.
